Postnatal Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Following the birth of your baby, you are likely to have many questions! Whether it be relating to pelvic floor symptoms that you have just started to notice, or wanting some guidance for returning back to exercise safely, we are here to support you.

It is important not to apply a “textbook approach” when deciding when to progress your level of exercise, and by how much. Likewise, it’s also important not to compare yourself with your friends or other mums in your Mothers Group. This is because every pregnancy, delivery and postpartum period is different.

There are many factors such as your birth history, pelvic floor health, pre-existing musculoskeletal injuries, hormonal state, and quality sleep that need to be considered prior to returning to exercise.

At Pelvic Fit Melbourne, we will consider these factors prior to advising you on how to appropriately increase your exercise level.

Postnatal services offered at Pelvic Fit Melbourne:

  • Proactive pelvic floor muscle assessment

  • Pelvic floor assessment and management of bladderbowelprolapse or sexual pain symptoms

  • DRAM (stomach separation) assessment and management

  • Individualised return to exercise advice and program

  • Treatment for post-natal musculoskeletal pain (i.e. back, hip, neck pain)
